Question 9/11; A Call To Activism
A message from Janette MacKinlay
event organizer
I was an eyewitness to the events of 9/11 from my art loft located directly across the street from the World Trade Center. I survived the blast that destroyed our home and damaged my psyche. After staying in a hotel for 5 weeks I returned to my home in the Oakland Hills to recover.
I needed to make sense of the events of that day in order to bring peace to my soul. Being completely ignorant of US foreign policy I began to educate myself. The Commonwealth Club of San Francisco presented frequent lectures regarding Middle East policy, which I started attending. I read and listened as much as I could. The issues were more complex and time consuming than I would have ever imagined.
When the 9/11 Commission Report was released in the summer of 2004, two of the commissioners spoke in San Francisco at a Commonwealth Club event. Their position was not to “point fingers” or assign blame but rather to prevent further attacks. In the question and answer period every answer was hidden behind a brick wall of classified documents, White House mandates, and national security concerns.
That day changed my life. The Northern California Truth Alliance activists were outside the event, offering answers to the questions that haunted me.
Carol Brouillet handed me a book “The New Pearl Harbor”, by Dr. David Ray Griffin, Professor of Philosophy of Religion and Theology, Emeritus, at the Claremont School of Theology (California) and author of twenty-five books. The book addresses “Disturbing Questions about the Bush Administration and 9/11”
I knew I had to do “something”, but what? Immediately after 9/11 I wanted to join the army to save my country! After the 9/11 Commission’s obvious cover-up, I knew I had to join the “9/11 Truth” movement, in order to help save my country.
It seems like everyday someone else has the courage to stand up and speak out about the issues that our mainstream media have been “blacking out”.
Dr. David Ray Griffin continues to work fearlessly to examine the events of that day. He authored a second book, “The 9/11 Commission Report, Omissions and Distortions,” in which he skillfully refutes the findings of the 9/11 Commission.
He has recently been making public appearances focusing on core issues. In April 2005 he spoke to an audience at University of Wisconsin in Madison on “9/11 and the American Empire”.
In September of 2005 he gave testimony at the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Conference sponsored by Congresswomen Cynthia McKinney, “The 9/11 Omission: What the Commission Got Wrong”.
Last summer Dr. Griffin gave a series of talks in Vermont and New York City in which he focused on specific issues. One of them addressed the failure of our air defense on 9/11 and the other addressed questions of why the towers collapsed in the way they did.
Ken Jenkins, long time member of the Northern California Truth Alliance has been working closely with Dr. Griffin for some time now, producing videos of his talks. I am proud to be organizing this event to spotlight the world premier of his latest DVD, “Flights 11, 175, 77 and 93: The 9/11 Commission’s Incredible Tales” .
If you, like myself, have wondered just how those planes were able to get through to their targets you will be want to see film.
It is part of the overall event to inspire activism and action; “Question 9/11”, Grand Lake Theatre, 3200 Grand Ave., Oakland, CA, Thursday Feb. 23 at 7 pm.
Also of importance will be upcoming events in the Bay Area where Dr. Griffin will be speaking in person, about “9/ll: The Myth and the Reality”. They will be held at the Grand Lake Theatre on March 30th @ 7pm. This event is sponsored by the Progressive Democrats of the East Bay.
On Monday April 3 at noon Dr. Griffin will be speaking at the Commonwealth Club, 595 Market St., in San Francisco.
Dr. Griffin is someone who is making a difference! Come hear what he has to say!
